Our mission is to bridge the academic gap in blockchain financial literacy by providing students with hands-on projects, research opportunities, and career pipelines into this industry.
Who We Are
The Minutemen Blockchain Fund (MBF) is a student-managed investment fund at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, in the Isenberg School of Management. The fund focuses on exploring deeply into one of the fastest-growing ecosystems in modern finance, while managing a live portfolio of simulated capital across digital assets, and fintech equities.
MBF is structured into two different areas - equity research, and venture capital. Members of MBF conduct in-depth market research, financial analysis, and company due diligence to develop investment theses and pitch recommendations to portfolio managers. These pitches support simulated capital allocation decisions and mirror real-world investment committee processes, giving members practical experience in investment management, risk assessment, and professional collaboration.
MBF frequently hosts guest speakers and Q&A sessions at our private analyst meetings, featuring industry professionals across equity & digital asset research, venture capital, as well as respected professional associations. This provides our members with invaluable opportunities to build connections and gain insights that can directly support their future careers.
Our Story
The Minutemen Blockchain Fund (MBF) was established in 2025 at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the Isenberg School of Management by a group of forward-thinking students united by a shared belief that blockchain technology is the future of finance. Recognizing an opportunity to expand the educational curriculum in emerging technologies, the founders of MBF sought to create additional resources for other passionate students with an interest in a career in the blockchain, finance, computer science, and the Web3 ecosystem.
In collaboration with Isenberg faculty, and other essential resources, the founding group acted on the initiative. After receiving recognition from the school, and becoming entirely established, it became apparent how many students were in need of a pipeline for a career in the blockchain ecosystem. MBF will continue to leave a lasting impact on the UMass-Amherst community, empowering students to be at the forefront of technological advancement.
